I also do not understand how so much money is spent on football，basketball and baseball，which are all merely games.

Undoubtedly，Manley learned many lessons from playing professional football.
But until he could learn to apply that toughness to his own life，he had really learned nothing from the game.
Playing games teaches us how to get along with people.
Any games that require more than one player will require that each player learn good relationship.
In essence，sportsmanship is the art of playing competitively yet fairly and conceding defeat (for now) with grace.
Sportsmanship can be applied in other area of life such as friendship，marriage and business and family relationship.
However，playing games does not teach us about life.
A football player must often learn how to play with aches and pains that would send most other people to the hospital.
Children playing games also often learn that they must often set aside their own personal problems for the benefit of the team.
This is an excellent lesson that can be applied in life.
However，neither the professional nor amateur player has learned anything about life until they learn to apply the lessons they have learned in the games to life.
Players in such sports are paid outrageous salaries for performing an act that does nothing to improve our world，while the people who sweat and toil in the business of life，can often barely can make ends meet.
Playing games prepares us for life : only life can actually teach us about life.

하지만 프로선수 혹은 아마추어 선수들 어느 누구도 경기에서 배웠던 교훈을 인생에 적용하는 방식을 배우기 전까지 인생에 대해 아무것도 배울 수는 없다.
대부분의 사람들이 종종 간신히 생계를 유지할 정도의 돈을 모으기 위해 인생이라는 비즈니스에서 땀 흘리고 고생하는 반면 세상에 전혀 도움이 되지 않는 행동을 수행한 것에 대해 어떠한 스포츠의 선수들은 엄청난 돈을 지급받는다.
경기를 한다는 것은 우리로 하여금 인생을 준비하게 한다 : 오직 인생만이 실제로 우리에게 인생에 대해 가르쳐 준다.
